Symbolizm in "The Lottery"

Symbolism is basically in every short story, it can symbolizes life, and love, and even death.  Especially in the short story "The Lottery" By Shirley Jackson.  In this short story the symbolism mainly represent death.  The black box is one of  the main reasons why.  When the box came into the story you could obviously realize that it meant something bad was coming, that's why when anyone saw it they stopped talking.  Also, another example is the slip of paper with the black dot.  This represents death, because whoever receives it will be executed.  Meanwhile, the white slip can symbolize being safe, or pure.
