The Effect of Parents

Just imagine having a family that always seems to do something right or drastically wrong.  Well this is the life of Percy Jackson in the book the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.  I believe that Percy’s parents affect his everyday life.

His parents definitely affect his school learning.  His real dad Poseidon really messes it up.  As a Demi-God or Half-blood Percy receives ADHD from his dad which helps him battle.  Also from his dad gives dyslexia which helps him read Greek better.  In addition his mom sends him to private schools so he never sees her. However, now he concentrates less on school work, because he is always thinking about his mom

In addition to learning his mom and dad also affect the setting.  His dad Poseidon makes the setting change drastically; because of fights from his ADHD he gets kicked out of many schools and ends up in Yancy Academy where he meets Grover.  Also, he goes to camp half-blood which protects him from monsters.  If it weren’t for his dad he would have never been to this camp.

Percy Jackson has had a long struggle throughout the story the Lightning Thief.  He has endured monsters and even Hades himself. It may not seem like it, but his family played a big role.  Without his mom marrying Gabe, and sending him to camp half-blood Percy would had never survived.  This is why I believe that Percy Jackson’s parents play a big role in the Lightning Thief.
