Cause and Effect: The Fighting Ground

In the book the fighting ground by Avi Jonathan a young 13 year old boy decides to fight with the minute men.  The rebels later met up with the Hessian patrol, they defeat them but Jonathan in the heat of the battle retreats and later gets caught by 3 Hessian survivors.  Later that day they decide to stay at a log cabin.  In the middle of the night he wakes-up and escapes.  He then met up with the their resistance, and told them where the troops were sleeping.  He realizes that he didn't want these men to die under his name, so he decides to try to save them.  but it is to late.  This event had a big toll on his psychology, and possibly could have been evade if he just would have not followed orders from his father, or even not had flee from the battle.
